Latest UPSC Exam Notification 2017


In India, the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exam stands apart from the list of competitive examinations regarding the class and toughness of questions being asked in exams that are highly skill oriented in nature. Below are some important details related to the exam published by the board for aspirants that show be known to them before attempting the exam.

Basic Educational Qualification
  • The aspirants should possess a degree from an approved university under the UGC (University Grants Commission)
  • If the aspirants have already written their final exam but have not received their results could also attempt the exam provided the mark sheet with certificate of qualification could be submitted by them before the start of the UPSC Exam.


Attempts allowed and Age Limit

  • For candidates of General Category, there would be 6 attempts with age limit up to 32 years
  •  The Other Backward Castes (OBC) category would have their age limit of 35 years with 9 attempts in total.
  • Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) candidates would get unlimited attempts with age limit as 37 years.
  • In case of Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates, the SC/ST category would have unlimited attempts with General and OBC categories having 9 attempts  and the age limit for Gen, OBC and SC/ST candidates are 42, 45 and 47 respectively.
  • The commission’s notice that is published in Employment News/RozgarSamachar specifies some categories which would have age relaxation availed for them.
  • The board’s notification from the year 2014 would have the final say on age limit and the number of attempts.  
Nationality
  • The aspirant has to be a citizen of the country if he/she wishes to write the exam for Indian Police Service (IPS) or Indian Administration Service (IAS).

Fee Structure

If aspirants wish to apply online, they have to pay a reduce fee of Rs.50/- as remittances of cash in an SBI branch or by online banking using debit or credit card of SBI.
In the case of PH aspirants, they would have to submit the proof of their disability by producing the copy of Medical Certificate from Medical Board.
  • If the aspirants are applying offline, they would have to pay Rs.100/- fee for a single Central Recruitment Fee Stamp.
  • If the Physically Handicapped (PH) aspirants manage to pass the fitness tests (medical) for selection to the key posts, they would not have to pay the exam fees.
  • Female aspirants of SC/ST category would be exempted from fee payment.
